Who are We?

The Ethical Advisers Co-operative (EAC) was established in 2011 by a dedicated group of financial advisers who recognised the need to represent and advocate on behalf of ethical and sustainable investment advice within Australia, a need that remains to this day.

Since those early days, the Co-operative has grown to a membership of over 40 advisers, all of whom operate within ethically focused Financial Planning practices around Australasia, collectively managing over $3.13 Billion of ethical investor’s money.

A not-for-profit organisation, the Co-op has built an outstanding reputation as a vocal representative on behalf of those advisers and investors seeking ethical investments.

Through our active participation within the investment industry, the Co-Op has worked alongside major organisations to promote sustainable, ethical and impact investment, such as the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA), 350.org, ACCR and Market Forces.

The Co-op’s mission is to provide ethical Financial Advisers and investment professionals in Australia and New Zealand a supportive network to exchange knowledge, amplify their collective voice, and empower their clients in aligning financial decisions with their values.

Our ethical advisers, supported by a collaborative network and resources, exchange knowledge and skills. This results in a stronger unified voice, empowered clients, and increased ethical investments in the financial sector.

Co-Op Advisers have led the way in ethical investing both within Australia and internationally and have helped develop some of the most innovative ethical investment solutions to help to achieve your financial goals whilst not compromising your personal values.

Our highly qualified members regularly advise on topics such as personal investment, family trusts, charities, not for profits, philanthropic trusts, self-managed super funds, co-operatives and ethical superannuation investing.

The board members which help to realise these benefits are depicted below. To contact any of the Co-op’s members, click the ‘Find An Adviser’ tab or fill out the ‘Contact Us’ form.

Tim Fitzpatrick

Tim is a Financial Adviser with Ethical Investment Services. His qualifications include a Graduate Certificate in Economics from the University of Queensland, a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Business, a Diploma of Financial Planning, and a semester spent at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

Tim’s interest in financial advice was initially sparked by time spent after school at his father’s financial planning business in Toowoomba. While the curiosity in investing was always there – learning to read stock reports early on, and buying his first shares at age 10 – the connection with clients was what appealed to him most.

Prior to joining EIS, Tim most recently worked as a business journalist, with articles in The Big Issue and Crikey, among others.

A keen traveller, he rates Iceland and Bangladesh as highlights, with the landscapes and people of both countries shaping his attitude towards the environment and sustainability. His interests also include art, technology, watching the Brisbane Lions occasionally win, and trying to play his prized Fender Jazzmaster.

Paul Garner

Novo Wealth founder Paul Garner is a Certified Financial Planner® Professional with high level experience from his time at a ‘big 4’ Australian bank and boutique planning practice. Wanting to move beyond this [corporate] environment and offer clients more, he started Novo to deliver genuinely tailored wealth advisory services, with a focus on responsible investing. Paul is also a ‘real person’ – a dad, musician, cyclist, footy-lover – who realised ethical investment needed greater recognition – and to be seen as more than an afterthought or token gesture in 21st century financial planning, given the world his [and everyone else’s] kids were growing up in.

Novo [meaning to change, reinvent, refresh in Latin] prioritises its product and sector selection around responsible investing with individually structured planning. Paul understands that each client’s position and lifestyle is different, be they just starting out, or looking for a kick along as they near retirement. Paul will design each client a specialised program to build wealth, protect that wealth and enable that wealth to potentially ‘go on giving’ indefinitely. High quality responsible investing encourages great corporate behaviour and outcomes that benefit people and our planet – without compromising wealth creation and performance. Truly a win-win-win-win…
